Summer Clay Hydrangea Tutorial – Available Until August 31

Hydrangea Tutorial is Now Available!

Our new hydrangea tutorial is now available in the Rose & Basic Course until August 31 (members only).

This seasonal lesson has just been uploaded to the YouTube Membership. In the video, I’ll walk you through how to make hydrangeas using cold porcelain, step by step in a clear and approachable way.

Hydrangeas come in all shapes, sizes, and colors—but for this lesson, I chose a classic style that would look beautiful in both Western and Japanese-inspired interiors. I picked a cool-toned blue and a soft bluish-pink—these are the colors that always come to mind when I think of hydrangeas.

I usually go for softer shades, but this time the colors are more vivid, which gives the finished piece a nice presence when displayed at home. There’s quite a bit of repetition and mass production involved in this project, but each individual step is actually quite simple. That said, since you need to make so many parts, it did end up taking a good amount of time to complete!

If you make a smaller version with fewer flowers, you can probably finish in about half the time. For beginners, starting with a mini version might be a good idea—it’s less overwhelming and still beautiful.

There’s also a free video on my YouTube channel where I show how to make a smaller and simpler version of a hydrangea, which I filmed back when I was just getting started. Feel free to check it out as well for extra inspiration!

Hydrangeas Make You Want to Play with Color

One of the things I love most about hydrangeas is their dreamy, magical color gradation. Real hydrangeas often have layers of blue, pink, and purple all in one bloom—and I wanted to somehow capture that look in clay. I kept layering and adjusting the colors… it was hard to stop! But getting lost in the creative process like that is one of the true joys of making things by hand.

This is actually the fourth hydrangea tutorial I’ve created so far. With each one, I’ve slowly updated my skills and knowledge—so in this version, you’ll find some new tools and techniques, especially in the coloring of the leaves and in making the flower centers.

I hope this lesson brings joy and inspiration to anyone who loves flowers and handmade crafts. Let’s enjoy the creative journey together!

Hydrangea Cutters & Veiners

The clay cutters and silicone molds used in this lesson are available for anyone to purchase on ▶︎Booth.

The hydrangea petal cutter is currently out of stock as I'm in the process of updating its design—thank you for your patience! Restocking will likely take about 1–2 weeks.

As for the leaf cutter and veiner, I’m still deciding whether to add them to the shop. Since hydrangea leaves are fairly easy to find alternatives for, it might not be necessary.

If you'd be interested in having the leaf set available too, feel free to let me know in the comments—I’d love to hear your thoughts!
